Central kicks off soccer season

Lady Jackets oust Colquitt County, 3-1

THOMASVILLE —

The Thomas County Central girls took down visiting Colquitt County 3-1 on Friday after a strong second half, which featured two goals from the Guyton sisters, Jade and Kaeci.

“It is awesome to have the Guyton sisters out there,” fourth-year Central coach Courtney Warner said. “I’ve waited a long time to have them both.”

Central fell behind 1-0 through the bulk of the first half before notching their first goal with 7:35 remaining.

“I changed up the back line and the middle a little bit,” Warner said of her halftime adjustments. “I think the girls finally got settled down and player their game.”

Central started eight upperclassmen in its 11-man lineup: Maggie Bowden, Ariel Carter, Aubree Denton, Kaeci Guyton, Laura Hopper, Sierra Lloyd, Ashley Ramirez and Kaylee Shaver.

The Lady Jackets visit Berrien next Friday.
