THS Diamond Dogs win rescheduled game

Daniel Kramer

Thomasville churned in 11 runs in the first inning and rode the momentum to a 13-2 win over Turner County on Tuesday.

“We just hit the baseball. Plain and simple,” Bulldogs coach Erik McDougald said. “We let the hammer down a little after that, but only allowed two runs so I’m happy nonetheless.”

The Bulldogs now sit at 2-1 after Saturday’s 4-2 win over Taylor County and last week’s 4-0 loss to Thomas County Central.

McDougald noted the importance of such big wins early in the season with what he called a “very green” group of players.

“Each and every game, we’re trying to get as many reps as we can before region play [which begins two weeks from Friday],” As many games as we can get under our belt with all these guys that had no varsity experience before last week, they’re going to get more confident and comfortable.”

If Mother Nature cooperates, the Bulldogs will play at home on Wednesday against Seminole County in a game that was rescheduled to rain.

They will be in Pensacola all weekend for a  games against Washington on Friday and Pine Forest on Saturday.
