Central routs Brooks for second time

Daniel Kramer

THOMASVILLE — Thomas County Central flexed its offensive muscles in Thursday’s 11-2 win over Brooks.

The Yellow Jackets piggybacked their Feb. 20 win over the Trojans, and capped their two meetings  with wins by a combined score of 26-2.

“They were really confident on the bus ride over,” Central assistant coach Joe Dollar said of the Yellow Jackets. “They knew they had to come play the game and the outcome would take care of itself.”

Central scored four runs in the first four innings before powering on seven in the final three to earn the win.

Stone Stephenson, who pitched four innings and earned the win from the mound, also hit 2 for 4 from the plate.

Eli Taylor went 2 for 5, Peyton Singletary hit 2 for 4, and Noah Harnevious was a perfect 3 for 3.

“Our guys are hitting so well right now,” Dollar said. “All we have to do is fill out a lineup card, and it doesn’t seem to matter who hits where.”

The Yellow Jackets begin region play in tomorrow’s road tilt with Northside-Columbus. Central is then off until Tuesday’s contest with Colquitt County.

Dollar said the demeanor of the team early is giving Central boosted assurance.

“Everyone is really excited with the ‘money games’ coming up,” he said in reference of region contests. “That’s when they matter.”
