Cairo, Central, THS baseball games plagued by rain

THOMASVILLE —

Cairo’s home game against Albany and Thomas County Central’s road tilt at Harris County on Wednesday have been postponed due to rain, and rescheduled for Thursday.

Both tilts feature head-to-head region foes.

Cairo coach Ron Best made the decision to postpone the game within an hour of arriving on campus on Wednesday.

“Our baseball game vs. Albany High today has been changed to a kayak competition,” Best said in an email. “(just kidding)”

Cairo will look to contunue its strong play against 1-AAA teams when Albany visits on Thursday. The Syrupmakers are undefeated in region play.

Central, however, is still seeking its first 1-AAAAA win.

Thomasville baseball coach Erik McDougald confirmed that the Bulldogs’ road tilt with Americus-Sumter on Tuesday has been canceled altogether due to the recent weather woes.

Thomasville is back in action on Wednesday – pending rain – in a region game at Pelham at 6 p.m.

The Bulldogs are an even 5-5 overall, but have fallen to a game under .500 in 1-AA play.

McDougald hadn’t confirmed who he will send to the mound in Wednesday’s contest.
