Injuries plague Lady Jackets in Friday loss

Thomas County Central is still recuperating from the attrition dealt to the Guyton sisters.

Senior Kaeci (illness) and freshman Jade (knee injury) were both sidelined during Friday’s 8-1 home loss to Lee County.

Central coach Courtney Warner noted the pair’s absence reverberated among the team during what she called the toughest loss of the season.

“Without them, we couldn’t really get anything up top,” Warner said. “It makes it very difficult for our lineup. Lots of people who don’t usually get a lot of playing time are seeing it and having to step up.”

The injury woes didn’t stop there.

Sierra Lloyd left the game early with an ailing ankle, and Ashley Ramirez was shaken up after getting kicked in the face with a ball in the final three minutes.

“I think my heart was in my stomach,” Warner said.

Central falls to 3-4 (0-2) with Friday’s loss and will look to score its first region win at home against Fitzgerald on Tuesday.

The boys had not finished at press time.
