Central loses first game of season

Daniel Kramer

A highly competitive opponent kept Thomas County Central from remaining undefeated this season.

Cook ousted host Central 4-3 on Tuesday in a battle between two strong teams early this year.

“I love playing them,” Central coach Chad Parkerson said. “I’m proud of my guys; they played hard.”

Parkerson attributed many stranded runners the Yellow Jackets left on base, including six through the first two innings, where they only scored one run.

“When you play good teams, you’ve got to take advantage of a few things and we didn’t do that so well tonight,” Parkerson said.

The Yellow Jackets again sent Jonathan Robinson to the mound, who pitched another great performance. The offense simply struggled to ressurect the lead late.

“I love my pitching,” Parkerson said. “I think we’ve got an extremely deep group of guys, and they compete on the mound.”

Central travels to Brooks tomorrow, and opens region play on Friday at Northside-Columbus

“Our region is slap full of really good teams,” he said. “It’s going to be a highly competitive season.”
