Thomasville hosts swim meet

THOMASVILLE — Tift County’s girls and Thomasville’s boys lapped the competition in a couple of swim meets at the Everett-Milton YMCA on Wednesday.

In a middle school meet, Tift’s girls scored 111 points, topping Lee County’s 79 and MacIntyre Park’s 71. MacIntyre Park won the boys event, scoring 104 points. It edged Tift’s 100, while Lee County scored 40.

In a high school meet between Tift and Thomasville, Tift’s girls defeated Thomasville 79-40. Thomasville won the boys event 62-55.

In the middle school meet, MacIntyre Park’s Maggie O Davis tied Tift County’s Ansley Mobley and Casey Hall with 14 points to top the individual girls standings. Davis was part of MacIntyre Park’s second-place team in the 200-meter medley relay and second-place squad in the 200-meter freestyle relay. Davis also won the 200-meter individual medley and 100-meter butterfly.

MacIntyre Park’s Chad Thomas tied Tift’s Jacob Harper for the top individual performer on the boys side with 14 points.

Thomas was part of MacIntyre Park’s winning team in the 200-meter medley relay team and the second-place team in the 400-meter freestyle relay. He also won the 200-meter individual medley and 100-meter breastroke.

Tift County’s Madi Honeycutt, Mary Shoup and Annalee Atwater tied atop the indiviual girls standings in the high school meet with 10 points. Thomasville’s top finisher was Megan Harding. She tied for sixth with six points.
