SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Thomasville's Harris English is coming off his rookie season on the PGA Tour in 2012. He is now just starting his sophomore season on golf’s most prestigious stage.

For English, he’s hoping to take the lessons and many experiences from last year and try to put them to good use.

“It was a good first year,” English said. “Hopefully I can keep it going and learn from each day out here.”

English’s highlights of last year were plenty.

“Every tournament was a highlight,” English said, “just learning, meeting people, and having fun, that’s what it’s all about.”

One of the more significant highlights for English was playing in golf’s oldest and historic championship, The British Open, at Royal Lytham & St. Annes in England.

“It was awesome,” English said. “It was my first major and for that first major to be the British Open was unbelievable. The fans, the town, the weather was awesome.”

English was fortunate enough to bring his parents, Ben and Martha, along with him during that week last July.

“It was fun for them,” English said. “My mom really enjoyed it so hopefully I can make it back this year.”
