Warriors ousted in playoffs

MILLEDGEVILLE — Brookwood’s season ended with a valiant effort but a disappointing loss in the GISA Class AA playoffs.

Playing at No. 1 seed John Milledge Academy Friday night in the first round of the playoffs, Brookwood fell behind 16-0 at halftime and lost 30-6.

The Warriors finished with a 3-8 record.

“Overall, we played good,” Brookwood coach Robert East said. “Our effort was incredible. I’m very proud of the kids for the way that we finished this season and how much we grew up over the last six weeks. We serve the mission of educating kids through athletics.

“I’m very proud of those kids.”

John Milledge had scored at least 48 points in seven games this year but was held in check by the Warriors’ defense. In fact, nine of the Trojans’ 16 first-half points came off Brookwood special-teams miscues.

“They blocked a punt and recovered it for a touchdown,” East said.
