It had been almost five years but Shane Boggs finally tasted victory as Brookwood’s football coach again.
Boggs’ Warriors ran for 214 yards, held John Paul II (Fla.) out of the end zone in the second half Friday night and tallied a 28-13 victory. It was the Warriors’ first victory this year and Boggs’ first since coming back to Brookwood for his second stint with the GISA school.
“It feels great,” Boggs said. “It wasn’t always pretty, but like I said to (the team) you win games by playing good defense and running the football and I thought we played great defense with the exception of one drive.
“The blocked punt, I would attribute that one score to that one. They drove it on us one time. They moved the ball a little bit again but we did a good job of getting stops.”
Boggs coached Brookwood from 2003-08 and led the Warriors to the Class AA championship in 2007.
