While the majority of the 2013 Thomasville-Thomas County Sports Hall of Fame induction class excelled in a variety of sports, they may have all shined brightest on the gridiron.
Former Thomasville High coach George Bobo as well as Bulldog standouts Larry McPherson and Ronald Reeves are half of the six-member class that will be honored Thursday at the 7 p.m. banquet at THS. Tickets are available for $20 at the YMCA.
Joining those trio of Bulldogs are former Central High stars Mike Singletary and Jessie Small as well Brookwood product Mattison Dunaway.
The only member to not make the Hall bases on his playing career is Bobo, a Berrien County native. But after coaching stops in Commerce, Miller County and Rome, Bobo came to Thomasville in 1984 as a member of Mike Hodges’ staff, helping lead the Bulldogs to an undefeated season and Class AAA state championship in 1988.
Two years later, Bobo took over as THS’ head coach and guided the Bulldogs to a 36-15 record in four seasons at the helm before leaving THS to be nearer his son Mike at the University of Georgia.
