A pair of Brookwood turnovers in the end zone turned into Westfield touchdowns set the tone Friday night.
The Hornets used those momentum-changing plays into a 35-0 blanking of the visiting Warriors in Perry.
“On one hand, I feel like we cleaned up some of the mistakes we’d been making, but then we invented some new ones,” Brookwood coach Shane Boggs said. “We tried to simplify some things on offense and tried to be more committed to the run game.
“I told the team after the game, ‘If we can be a team that makes less mistakes each week because we’re learning from those mistakes, that we can still be a good football team.’ But a good football team doesn’t make the mistakes we’ve been making.”
