The Thomas County Central boys soccer team piggybacked the girls’ 9-2 win on Thursday with a 7-0 shutout of Berrien.
The game finished after the Times-Enterprise had gone to press.
The Yellow Jackets built a 2-0 lead at the half before they poured on another five in the final period.
Eric Delaney and Ray Stringer each had a pair of goals, while Brett Hanright , Noah Crave, Saul Rios each had one.
“We play very aggressive. It’s a much higher intensity than more high schools are used to,” said Central coach Kristy Peeples, who also coaches a club team. “I told them [at halftime] that communication and aggression is going to get you the endurance you need to get the ball downfield wide.”
Central fell to Colquitt County last Friday, and evened their record to 1-1 on Thursday.
“The guys were very positive after that game,” Peeples said. “They came in and talked about what went wrong and saw on film where they can improve. It helped tremendously.”
The Yellow Jackets play again on Tuesday at home against Tifton.
