THOMASVILLE — Glen Arven Country Club’s Bill Connally was awarded the premier 2012 Georgia PGA Professional of the Year.

This award is one of the Georgia PGA’s most elite awards and is based on the criteria of overall performance as a golf professional at his or her facility; level of service to his or her chapter, section, and the association; leadership ability; image and the ability to inspire fellow professionals; and promotion of golf.

In the past, Connally has received numerous awards for his teaching and leadership in the world of junior golf. His latest award encompasses all aspects of being a golf professional — member service, teaching, image, leadership and overall performance.

Upon receiving the award, Connally said he was “really humbled” after taking into consideration the previous winners, such as John Gerring and Ray Cutright, who were idols in his younger years as a professional and became models for his golf operation. Connally also says that it was flattering to be recognized by his peers and believes that the detail and commitment he puts into every aspect of being a golf professional was part of what earned him the nomination for this award.
