PACK OF WORRIES

MOULTRIE — Thomas County Central has lost its quarterback, one of its top rushers and current Georgia Bulldog Ray Drew from last year’s team and was defeated handily by Lowndes in its scrimmage.

Maybe the Yellow Jackets are down a little bit?

You won’t convince Colquitt County coach Rush Propst of that, especially after the Yellow Jackets spanked Thomasville 35-20 last Friday. And Thomas County Central stands between the Packers and a 3-0 start that would reverse how they started last year.

The Packers opened with a 31-0 victory over Cook and then needed to score 10 points in the final 35.9 seconds to knock off visiting Madison County (Fla.) last week.

While the Packers were scuffling most of the night against a Madison County team that might not lose again this season, the Yellow Jackets were jumping out to a 21-0 halftime lead against the Bulldogs and rolled to a convincing victory.

Sophomore quarterback Adam Choice, who was impressive in a brief appearance against the Packers last year, led the Yellow Jackets against Thomasville in his first varsity start, rushing for 208 yards and scoring on runs of 66 and 59 yards.
