Rebuilding Bulldogs face tough challenge

THOMASVILLE —  The Thomasville Bulldogs are in a rebuilding mode.

The team that leaned heavily on point guard Trey Gosier and center Willie Clayton the last four years will be turning to a new cast to lead last year's runners-up in Region 1-AA.

“Starting from scratch is exactly what it is,” Thomasville coach Ben Tillman said. “I think we have a couple of seniors that we're really going to count on, but, for the most part, it's going to be up to the freshmen and sophomores to pull us through. With the junior class that we've got, I think they're going to be pretty decent. But it's really going to come down to all those young kids that haven't had a lot of minutes.”

One of those seniors is 5-foot-7 Derrek Dixon, who got experience at point guard most of last season while Gosier saw some time at shooting guard. Dixon, Devonte Wyche and Ladarius Thomas are expected to vie for playing time running the Bulldogs’ offense.
