THOMASVILLE — Thomas County Central High School says good-bye to another one of its star football players. Jalen Sneed signed with Albany State University Wednesday.

“I thank God, I thank my mom, and I thank all of you for being here,” Sneed said after signing his National Letter of Intent to play football at Albany State University.

A crowd of friends and family gathered to watch Sneed’s dreams come true.

“I am so proud of my son,” Sneed’s mother, Shonda, said.

Sneed, the 6’2,” 270 pound former defensive tackle for Thomas County Central, will be bringing his strength and skills to the Golden Rams this fall.

“I feel blessed to have an opportunity to go play college football,” Sneed said.

Sneed received a full-ride from Albany State University.

“This feeling is unbelievable.” Sneed said. “It feels really good to be able to be close to home.”

Sneed says he is “happy” with the his future team’s colors.

“They are pretty much the same ones I have been wearing,” Sneed joked.

For the past few months, teams have been looking at Sneed.

“It’s weird that teams have been competing for me,” Sneed said. “This has always been a dream of mine.”

The larger crowd that will be watching and the collegiate scenery doesn’t have Sneed worried.

“The bigger the stage, the bigger I perform,” Sneed said.

Sneed helped lead the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets to a 4-1 record in Region 1-AAAAA. The Yellow Jackets made it to the second round of playoffs.
