Thomasville siblings give 'Wheel' a spin

THOMASVILLE — Vanna White and Pat Sajak may not be the only people you recognize on an upcoming episode of “Wheel of Fortune.

Thomasville High School graduates Tamecia Perry and her younger brother, Danurah Jones, will be representing Thomasville on Monday. Both serve in the military in California.

“Our mother watched it every night, so it got us into watching it,” Perry said. “It’s something that just carried on because I always wanted to be on the show. I love solving puzzles.”

Jones added, “I never thought in a million years that I would be on the show.”

After receiving an e-mail that the “Wheelmobile” was looking for contestants in her area and possibly someone for Armed Forces Week, Perry filled out her initial application.

A week later, Perry was auditioning for “Wheel of Fortune” with her brother.

“We auditioned at a hotel in Los Angeles,” Perry said. “There were a lot of people there. We went through a series of games. We had to take a five-minute test where we had to fill out as many puzzles as we could. We did a staged ‘Wheel of Fortune’ game.”

After producers sent half of the room home, Perry and Jones felt pretty confident, but they weren’t positive that they had nailed a spot on the show.

See Thursday's edition for more details.
