THOMASVILLE —  A Thomas County Superior Court judge set a $1 million bond for a suspect charged with murder in the July shooting death of a South Carolina soldier.

Judge James E. “Jim” Hardy set the bond on Chaquel Jaquez Cook, 18, Thomasville. Cook remains in the Thomas County Jail.

Also on Wednesday, Hardy set a $500,000 bond on Kimberly DeShaundra Williams. She also remains behind bars.

Cook is charged with murder, arson, armed robbery, carjacking and aggravated assault in the shooting death of Hassan Hana Williams, 21, West Columbia, S.C.

Cook and Williams petitioned Superior Court for bond after being incarcerated for more than 90 days without an indictment.

Cook, Williams and two others charged in the case will be considered for indictment February.

Williams, 27, Thomasville, is charged with murder, arson and cruelty to children.
