Rescue shows growth in 2013

CAIRO — Second Chance Animal Rescue (SCAR) is growing by leaps and bounds.

In 2012, 125 dogs were adopted. It has surpassed that number this year and processed 248 adoptions. Some people as far as Minnesota have adopted animals from the rescue.

At this time, SCAR is loaded with several puppies and small dogs with two litters on the way. The most recent adoption was a bulldog mix named Daisy that came to SCAR in February 2012.

It has three dogs that have been there for more than 11 months and would love to see them adopted this holiday season.

SCAR appreciates its supporters and volunteers who have helped make this year successful.

Its most recent fundraiser was a smoked boston butt sale. It plans to have several more in the upcoming months.

SCAR can be seen at the Rattlesnake Roundup in Whigham in January. The team will have several adoptable rescues with them, along with SCAR merchandise.
