Dye set to talk football, trees at chamber event

CAIRO — The Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce has announced that Pat Dye, former Auburn University head football coach and Quail Hollow Gardens owner, will be the featured speaker for the annual dinner program.

The 88th Annual Chamber Meeting and Dinner will be held at the Grady County Center on Jan. 27. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with dinner being served at 6:30 p.m.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to have coach Pat Dye speak at our Annual Meeting and Dinner,” said Chamber Director Chadd Mathis. “This is a great opportunity to meet coach Dye and learn about his current endeavors.”

Dye served as head football coach at Auburn University from 1981 until 1992. He also served as the athletic director from 1981 until 1991. In 2005, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach.

In addition to Dye’s address regarding football and trees, community awards will be presented for the Man of the Year, Woman of the Year, Professional of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Community Service and Farm Family of the Year.
