Hands On Thomas County holding party, fundraiser

THOMASVILLE — Shake off those winter blues, grab your favorite krewe and don your most elaborate mask for an evening of revelry for a great cause at Hands On Thomas County’s Mardi Gras Party & Fundraiser. It’s in celebration of 10 years of volunteers.

Jan. 6, known as “Twelfth Night,” signals the beginning of the Mardi Gras Carnival season that runs through Fat Tuesday on March 4. During the Carnival season, revelers from New Orleans to the Netherlands gather to celebrate and indulge in preparation for the traditional period of Lent.

Thomasville will have the opportunity to take part in its own unique way.

At 7 p.m. on Jan. 25, the New Orleans-style festivities begin at The Uno Hill Barn at Pebble Hill with Cajun-inspired cuisine, traditional Pimm’s Cups, live music by The Blues Factor Band, a Goof Booth and door prizes for Best Mask and Most Creative Krewe.

Party-goers will also have the opportunity to bid on items, including a beach house getaway, two roundtrip airline tickets and more. All proceeds benefit Hands On Thomas County’s volunteer and community service programs which, in turn, benefit everyone in this area.

“Mardi Gras will be extra special this year because it’s not only our annual fundraiser, but a chance to celebrate 10 years of bringing together the actual ‘hands’ of Thomas County; toasting every individual who has lent their time and support to this community since HOTC began,” said HOTC Mardi Gras Co-Chair Charlotte Hodges.
