Hundreds attend county schools meeting

THOMASVILLE — More than 300 parents, high school students, business leaders and school system employees turned out for Thomas County School System’s Community Engagement meeting at Thomas County Central High School Tuesday.

“This is the beginning of a several months long process that will lead to the development of a new strategic plan which will guide our school system for the next several years,” said Superintendent Dr. Dusty Kornegay.

“The purpose of our meeting this evening is to spend some time reflecting on the current status of our school system and to have some time to dialogue about what our common goals are for improvement,” told the crowd.

“The underlying philosophy behind our approach to this endeavor is that the community owns the school system, and it is appropriate for the community to be involved in the formulation of our improvement goals from the very beginning,” he explained.
