A man who told police he was attacked and stabbed was charged with aggravated assault.
Thomasville police officers were called to the Archbold Memorial Hospital emergency room about a man with a stab wound.
A witness who took the man to the hospital told police the injured man said he was walking along Young Street, near Cherry Street, when he was assaulted by several men.
Other officers responded to the alleged crime scene and were told a different story, said Lt. Eric Hampton, Thomasville Police Department public information officer.
Witnesses told police Michael Sharp and his girlfriend got into an altercation at 115 Cherry, a boarding house.
Hampton said witnesses told officers Sharp assaulted the woman.
“Sometime during the assault, she produced a knife and stabbed Sharpe in the chest and arm,” Hampton said, adding that Sharp was the primary aggressor.
After further investigation and talking to other witnesses, Sharp, 28, 705 Fletcher St., was arrested after his release from the hospital and charged with aggravated assault.
The woman also was treated at Archbold for injuries suffered in the altercation.
