THOMASVILLE — A group of Thomas County citizens is not going to wait for a disaster to strike here. It is making plans to keep tragedies like the recent one at Sandy Hook Elementary School from happening again.

“We need to start thinking now about what we can do as a community,” said Deborah H. Loftiss, continuous Quality Improvement director at The Vashti Center.

On Tuesday, Thomas County Family Connection held its monthly meeting at The Vashti Center Inc.

Nearly 90 guests were in attendance, including law enforcement, school officials and concerned Thomas County citizens.

Thomas County Family Connection provided an environment for discussion on existing protective resources for children in Thomas County while also hoping to develop community-wide strategies to fill the gaps.
