'It's all about momentum'

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Harris English is competing in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am this week on the famous Monterey Peninsula of California.

He is currently in the middle of what the PGA Tour calls its “West Coast Swing” that begins the golf season.

As East Coasters and many along the Atlantic seaboard continue to deal with wind, rain, and snow, the West Coast is serving up some sultry California sun.

English, with his parents Ben and Martha in tow for the next two weeks, is going from one crisp and clear destination to the next.

English finished his most recent tournament on Sunday at the Waste Management Phoenix Open with a final round 1-under 70 and a tie for 57th.

Momentum is the key factor in the mind of English. At one point, he had gotten last Sunday’s final round to 4-under before ultimately settling for a 1-under finish.

“It’s all about momentum,” English said. “You gotta make the momentum shots, the momentum putts to keep it going. On Sunday, I got it going a couple times and I just didn’t have any momentum. I would hit a bad shot or miss a short putt or something to take my momentum away, so that’s really all it is in golf.”
