Barwick’s police chief is believed to have suffered a fatal heart attack while on duty Tuesday night.
Tony Barfield was completing a call to a domestic dispute when he experienced shortness of breath and called 911.
“We had two (first responders) respond in Barwick,” said Chris Jones, Thomas County Fire Department chief.
In addition to first responders from the Barwick fire station, a first responder from the Boston fire station also responded.
First responders administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Barfield, 47, was pronounced dead at Archbold Memorial Hospital, said Barwick Mayor Ned Simmons.
