Shooting victim in stable condition

THOMASVILLE — A man shot twice Tuesday night was in stable condition Wednesday at Archbold Memorial Hospital.

The 35-year-old male victim was found in the street in the 400 block of North Broad Street.

Someone at the U.S. Post Office heard shots fired, went outside building, found the victim and called 911. Residents of the area also heard the shots about 10:25 p.m.

The victim was shot in the neck and leg.

Tyree Rashan Jones, 19, 409 N. Stevens St., was arrested about three hours later at his residence and charged with aggravated battery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

A firearm was recovered at the suspect’s residence.

“The suspect fired multiple times at the victim after he was shot,” said Lt. Eric Hampton, Thomasville Police Department public information officer.

Police are investigating the motive for the shooting.

“We don’t have any witnesses,” Hampton said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the TPD Criminal Investigations Division at (229) 227-3302.

“We’re getting conflicting information, but we think they knew each other,” Hampton said.

A man shot twice early Saturday morning remains in critical condition at Archbold.

Hampton said the Saturday victim was shot in the neck and upper torso.

The officer said both shootings resulted from altercations between the suspects and victims.

Senior reporter Patti Dozier can be reached at (229) 226-2400, ext. 1820.
