Grady murder conviction upheld

THOMASVILLE — Georgia Supreme Court justices have upheld a murder conviction in a 2007 Grady County murder case involving a wheelchair-bound victim.

With all justices concurring, the malice murder verdict returned on Martin Wheeler was upheld.

Wheeler, 78, was found guilty in September 2007 in connection with the strangling, beating and stabbing death of his elderly, wheelchair-bound ex-girlfriend, Pearl Johnson.
