SWGTC gives veterans 'VIP Treatment'

Natalie Fultz

THOMASVILLE — Southwest Georgia Technical College (SWGTC) has always been an advocate and supporter of America’s veterans. Officials at SWGTC feel it is important to honor veterans all year long, not just on Veterans Day.

One way they achieve that goal is by giving veterans applying at SWGTC the “VIP Treatment.”

Sondra Crawford, veterans certifying official at SWGTC, walks veterans through the college’s application process. She serves as a liaison between veterans, the Veterans Association and SWGTC.

Crawford’s goal is to ensure each veteran who comes to her office is getting the most out of their education benefits and using those benefits properly.

“Many veterans are confused about which education benefits they are entitled to,” Crawford said. “That is where I come in. I help educate them on the benefits. Once we determine the benefits for which they are eligible, I guide them through the process of applying for those benefits to our college.”
