Pill-shopping leads to arrest

THOMASVILLE — A Moultrie man previously charged with being in possession of a primary component of methamphetamine has been arrested for meth possession.

The Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division had been receiving information that the individual, Jimmy Wayne Tucker, was purchasing large quantities of ephedrine pills, a main methamphetamine ingredient, at Thomasville stores.

Agents learned Tucker was at one of the businesses.

“One of the agents saw him walk out of the store. He knew him from the past,” said Kevin Lee, narcotics/vice commander.

The officer searched Tucker and found a loaded .22-caliber handgun tucked in a boot.

“We also found a quantity of methamphetamine in his pocket,” Lee said.

Tucker’s attempt to purchase ephedrine was denied, because he had purchased so much of the substance in the past.

One must provide identification and register to purchase ephedrine, Lee said.

Tucker, 38, 1515 U.S. 319 South, Moultrie, is charged with methamphetamine possession with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, use of a firearm by convicted felon during the commission of a crime, obstruction and carrying a concealed weapon.
