Agents follow their noses to drug suspect

THOMASVILLE — An odor coming from a residence alerted Thomasville police to the possibility of drug use.

Police on Monday arrived at 412 N. Hansell St. in reference to a possible hit-and-run/false report of a crime.

Officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the house and notified the Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division.

Lee Polen Dennis, 36, who resides at the house, was taken into custody, and a search of the property got under way.

“We found a large thermos that had a strong odor of marijuana and contained empty plastic bags commonly used to package drugs for sale,” said Kevin Lee, narcotics/vice commander.
