Shotgun team takes aim at state event

Sixteen members of the Thomas County 4-H shotgun team recently traveled to the Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton to take part in the annual State Modified Target Challenge Weekend. The competition featured a record 1,149 4-H’ers from across the state.

The Thomas County 4-H shotgun team was led by head coach Jon Wynn.  Other Thomas County coaches included Brian and Dana Lameier.

Wynn stated, “I am very proud of this year’s team.  We have seen tremendous growth and improvement in our shooters this year and we are really looking forward to next year’s season!”

Although the three Thomas County teams did not place in the top seven, they had one shooter who posted a perfect score.  Makenzie Lameier was the only female to hit all 25 targets.

Other Thomas County members competing included Avery Baker, Trey Benton, Jessica Browning, Luke Carroll, Mackenzie Lameier, Micaela Lameier, Collin Milam, Jacob Milam, Brentley Odom, Lane Quick, Nick Robison, Mack Rosenbury, Ethan Sammons, Michaela Smith, Cannon Wheeler and Cole Williamson.   Others traveling to Rock Eagle included Thomas County 4-H Agent Cindy M. Wynn.
