Mayor re-elected for second term

THOMASVILLE — During Monday night’s Thomasville City Council meeting, incumbents Max Beverly and Greg Hobbs and newly elected member Don Sims were sworn in by reciting the Oath of Office.

 Beverly was re-elected to a second term as mayor by the council during Tuesday’s city council meeting.

Greg Hobbs was also approved for another two-year term as mayor pro tem. The votes for both positions were unanimous.

Beverly is eager to serve as mayor again.

He said, “I’m excited to be re-elected. It’s an honor and I’m looking forward to the next two years.”

The current members of the city council are as follows:

Beverly — District 2, Post 2

Hobbs — District 1, Post 2

Sims — Member at-large

David Lewis— District 1, Post 1

Jay Flowers— District 2, Post 1

In other action, the council named the Thomasville Regional Airport Terminal Building conference room after retiring, long-term council membe  Roy Campbell. He held the at-large post for 19 years.
