Cairo chamber showcases educational partnerships

CAIRO — The Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce college and university presidents Dr. Richard Carvajal, Bainbridge College; Dr. Craig Wentworth, Southwest Georgia Technical College; and Dr. Gary Bonvillian, Thomas University, will participate in a panel discussion highlighting recent collaborations with Grady County Schools and local businesses and industry leaders for its Annual Dinner program.

In addition, the Chamber will host a trade show of academic and work force development programs at the dinner. The 87th Annual Chamber Meeting and Dinner will be held at the Grady Cultural Center on Monday. Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.

“Through the University of Georgia’s Archway Partnership, educational institutional, businesses, community and local and state agencies have come together to focus on such topics as the College and Career Academy, dual enrollment, work force training, academic programs, continuing education and professional development,” said Chamber Executive Director Chadd Mathis.

“This initiative has sparked greater collaboration in the community and the Chamber is pleased to present this program.”

Community awards will also be presented for Man of the Year, Woman of the Year, Professional of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Community Service and Farm Family of the Year.
