Crawford recognized for bird studies

THOMASVILLE — Robert L. Crawford of Thomasville was given the Earle R. Greene Award by the Georgia Ornithological Society for lifetime achievement in the study of birds and service to the society. The award was presented at the winter meeting of the Society in Tallahassee, Fla., on Jan.17. Crawford has been member of the Society since 1962 and has published many accounts on the birds of Thomas County, as well as studies on bird migration and distribution in the Southeast.  He is also the author of an award-winning, recently (2012) published history of Tall Timbers Research Station & Land Conservancy from the University Press of Florida, The Legacy of a Red Hills Hunting Plantation.
