THOMASVILLE — Waterworks are in store for Red Hills Business Park on U.S. 319 North.

The City of Thomasville will erect a 500,000-gallon elevated water storage tank at the rear of the U.S. 319 site.

“ ... It’s about 146 feet high,” Jerry Pionessa, assistant city engineer, told Thomas County commissioners this week.

The tank site will be fenced with a 30-foot buffer on one-half acre.

The tank, which will resemble other city water storage tanks, will be adorned with the Red Hills Business Park logo.

The project includes a water main extension and installation of a well.

Since the Tuesday county commission meeting, Pionessa said upcoming work in the park is a part of an overall plan to improve the water supply reliability by installing a 12-inch water main from Dillon Road through the park and back to the bypass via Sanford and Hall roads.

Cost of the infrastructure improvements is estimated at $2.6 million.
