Drug squad makes coke-related arrests

THOMASVILLE — Local law enforcement made three cocaine-related arrests over the weekend.

Joseph Benjamin Adams Jr., 31, who was staying in Room 418 of a Thomasville hotel, was one of the men charged.

“We’ve had dealings with him the past. We began getting information about him,” said Kevin Lee, commander of the Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/ Vice Division.

Agents occupied a room in the same hotel as Adams Jr. and a phone call was made. Undercover personnel attempted to approach him after the call. It was then that Adams Jr. placed a quantity of cocaine in his mouth. After a small altercation, he spit the cocaine from his mouth and agents arrested him.

Adams Jr. is being charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell, conspiracy to sell cocaine and two counts of obstruction of an officer.

Jamie Kenora Wyche, 26, of 750 E. Pinetree Blvd., Block 17, was arrested at his residence. Narcotic agents received information Wyche was selling cocaine from it.

Agents obtained a search warrant on Friday afternoon.

According to Lee, agents approached Wyche’s residence and several people were sitting outside. One of them was Wyche.

When they searched him, they discovered 22 small pink bags of cocaine, two ecstasy pills and a small quantity of marijuana. Also, $364 was seized from his person.

Wyche was charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to sell, possession of MDMA with intent to sell and possession of marijuana with less than an ounce.

The third arrest occurred on Friday evening during a multi-jurisdictional road block.

Brandon Dayon “Bam” Adams, 28, of 809 N. Oak St., was a passenger in a vehicle whose driver attempted to roll through the road block. Officers approached the vehicle and it came to complete stop.

Officers saw that Adams had marijuana residue on his shirt and pants. He was removed from the vehicle. In the passenger floorboard, four plastic bags of powder cocaine were found. Also. found in the vehicle was a .380 handgun, 8.4 grams of powder cocaine in the console and more cocaine found in the driver’s seat.

When Adams was asked to give his name, he would not comply because of outstanding warrants.

Adams was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of crime, possession of firearm by convicted felon and possession of marijuana with less than an ounce. A pending cocaine arrest warrant was on Adams at the time of arrest.
