Santa Claus made an early stop at TECT Power for 30 eager children on Tuesday.
Ten students each from Harper, Jerger and Scott elementary schools made their way on a school bus to enjoy a few hours of holiday cheer.
Patti Gilmore spent the past two months getting ready for the big day. Gilmore, TECT Power human resources manager, teamed with Stephanie Thomas to coordinate the event through the schools.
“I asked the principals from each school to select students who they thought could benefit from this event,” Thomas said. “This may be the only Christmas some of these children will get. I’m just really excited because the kids have been looking forward to this.”
After arriving at TECT Power, students ranging from age 5 to 7 departed only to hear the familiar siren of a fire truck. Applause, cheering and joy filled the atmosphere when the students saw Santa and his elves arriving.
The children enjoyed lunch before getting the opportunity to sit on Santa’s lap.
Then the real fun began.
