Nativities on display

THOMASVILLE — This holiday season The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is once again giving a Christmas gift to the Thomasville community.

Dozens of nativity sets, peaceful lighting and live musical performances will be presented free to the public on Friday and Saturday evening, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 807 Remington Ave., in Thomasville.

Visitors are invited to drop in at any time between 6 and 8 p.m. to see the Nativities displayed in a festive holiday setting with live musical performances and refreshments throughout both evenings.

“The Christmas Creche is a wonderful way to begin the holiday season,” said Shea McDougald, one of the event organizers.

“As you admire all the different Nativities, you begin to feel a warmth grow within your heart. That warmth is the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.”

Several live musical performers will appear, with both vocal and instrumental selections. Visitors will be able to stroll through the display at their own pace and visitors of all ages are welcome.

There is no charge for the event. This event is intended to be an annual Christmas gift to the Thomasville community.

Linda Johnson, another event organizer, said, “It helps us to remember the true meaning of the holidays, the birth of our Savior. The Nativities are from all over the world and will fill your hearts with joy and peace as you admire them.”
