Senior citizens need Christmas care

THOMASVILLE — Children often take center stage during Christmas, but senior citizens deserve some of the spotlight, too.

“The holidays are an especially tough time for senior citizens,” said Kimberly DeHaven, community relations coordinator at Southern Pines. “It brings back old memories and traditions that are no longer there. It’s so important that we are there for them.”

Henry and Mary Moody are two elderly citizens who could use a visit from Santa Claus, not for toys, but to help them get through another day.

On Dec. 6, Mary wrote a letter to Santa via the Times-Enterprise in hopes to get her wishes fulfilled.
