School fight prompts arrest

THOMASVILLE — A Thomasville High School student was charged with battery and possession of a weapon in a Monday incident.

 Shortly after noon at the 315 S. Hansell St. school, a fight broke out between two students. Two faculty members intervened.

One of the faculty members was struck while trying to break up the fight, said Lt. Eric Hampton, Thomasville Police Department public information officer.

A female student, 15, is charged with battery on a school official and possession of a weapon on school property.

Hampton said the teen had a large knife. The knife was not involved in the incident.

The student was transported to the Loftiss Regional Youth Detention Center.
