10 to compete for Rose Queen

THOMASVILLE — Ten outstanding juniors from local Thomas County high schools will compete for the title of Thomasville Rose Queen 2013 on Saturday night, March 2.

The scholarship pageant, to be held in the Municipal Auditorium at 7:30 pm, is an official event of the Thomasville Rose Festival sponsored by CNS Television, Internet and Phone.

The winner of the Rose Queen Pageant will reign over the 92nd Annual Rose Festival activities. 

The 2013 Rose Queen contestants, listed in order by their contestant numbers, are:

1 – Victoria Hurst

Thomasville High Scholars Academy; Parents:  Denise and Victor Hurst

2 – Casey Tuggle

Thomas County Central High School; Parents:  Richard Tuggle

3 – Abbey Smith

Thomas County Central High School; Parents:  Debbie and Darin Smith

4 – Hannah Beshears

Thomasville High Scholars Academy; Parents:  Kate and Bobby Wilder and Alicia and Rob Beshears

5 – Kaitlyn Sealy

Thomas County Central High School; Parents:  Sheryl and Mark Sealy

6 – Ali Hall

Thomasville High Scholars Academy; Parents:  Sandra and Ed Hall

7 – Kristen Heatter

Thomas County Central High School; Parents:  Michelle and Marvin Heatter

8 – Austin Futch

Thomas County Central High School; Parents:  Leanne and Joe Futch

9 – Angel Michaels

Thomas County Central High School; Parents:  Cheri’ and Jamie Michaels

10 – Elizabeth Oglesby

Thomasville High Scholars Academy; Parents:  Mary and Jamie Oglesby

Each young woman will be judged on an essay they wrote about Thomasville, a ten-minute individual interview, on-stage physical fitness routine, and an evening gown event.

The 2013 Rose Queen will begin her official duties with the 92nd Annual Rose Show & Festival April 25th through the 27th, reigning over all official Rose Festival activities. The winner will serve as an official hostess for the City of Thomasville throughout the coming year, promoting Thomasville and Thomas County as an ambassador of our community. She will be a host for various civic, social and charity events.

Tickets are on sale at the Thomasville Visitors Center for $5 each (six under are free) or they can be purchased at the door on the night of the pageant.  Doors open at 7 p.m.
