TU student UPS scholar

THOMASVILLE — Adeboye Sulola, a senior Medical Laboratory Science major from Covington, has been awarded the $2,425 UPS Scholarship to assist with his studies at Thomas University for the 2014-15 academic year. He already works in the health care field.

Sulola, 38, lives in Covington, with his wife and three children. Originally from Nigeria, he lived in the United Kingdom for several years before moving to the Atlanta area. During his job search, Sulola realized that Medical Laboratory Science was a great way to combine his love of science and his desire to help people. He is currently enrolled in TU’s on-campus MLS program.

Sulola said the UPS scholarship will significantly help him in achieving his goal of earning a bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science at Thomas University. However, after graduation, he plans to begin pursuing a master’s degree in the field.

To be eligible for the scholarship, recipients must be from an under-represented segment of the student body, demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.

The scholarship is part of the UPS Scholars Program, which is funded through the United Parcel Service (UPS) Educational Endowment Fund and administered by the Council for Independent Colleges (CIC) and the Georgia Independent College Association (GICA), both of which TU is a member.

UPS has supported GICA member institutions continuously for 39 years for a total of more than $1.3 million.
