Marijuana intercepted

THOMASVILLE — A Barwick man successfully picked up marijuana in Thomasville, but his trip back home was interrupted by narcotics agents, according to a Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division officer.

Narcotics agents set up surveillance to look for the gray Nissan Altima in which they had been told Fredrick Barnard Daniels would be traveling.

“Narcotics agents and deputies got behind the vehicle as it headed back to Barwick,” Kevin Lee, narcotics/vice commander, said.

Daniels, a passenger in the car, was removed, and officers found marijuana residue in a jacket he was wearing.

A search of his pants produced a plastic bag containing 61 grams — more than two ounces — of marijuana.

Daniels, 29, 3172 Stafford Circle, Barwick, is charged with marijuana possession with intent to distribute.

The driver of the car was arrested on a shoplifting warrant.
