Murder trial witness attacked

THOMASVILLE — A key witness in a murder trial — in which a guilty verdict was returned Thursday — was assaulted the day before the trial was to begin.

The victim was in the Waffle House parking lot, 15228 U.S. 19 South, when he was confronted by individuals who pointed a firearm at him, and a fight began, said Steve Turner, special agent in charge of the Thomasville regional office of the Georgia Bureau of Inves-tigation.

The witness went into the restaurant and called 911 in the 2 a.m. Sunday incident.

Oscar Eugene Jackson, 23, 1325 Warner Drive, was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Sunday. He is charged with aggravated assault, influencing witnesses and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Ladarius Montrez Mincey, 23, 510 Old Albany Road, was arrested Monday and charged with aggravated assault and influencing witnesses.

On Tuesday Dwyane Edward Bryant, 23, 503 Old Albany Road, was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault and influencing witnesses.
