A little more than a month into the project, City of Thomasville staff report the new Pavo Road-Bennett Street water main is making progress, and construction is on schedule.
“So far, we’ve completed approximately 20 percent of the 13,000-foot-long water main,” said City Engineer Jerry Pionessa.
When complete, the additional water main will help bolster the city water network in the event of unforeseen complications.
“The new water main adds much needed redundancy to our water network. This means that in the event we encounter issues with a water main on one side of the city, we can reroute the supply with little to no interruption in water service to our customers,” Pionessa said.
“This redundancy is also critical to our fire suppression abilities, as these lines supply our fire hydrants, as well,” he added.
In total, the project is expected to take six months to complete.
