During Monday’s Thomasville City Council meeting, Willie Scruggs was presenteda plaque by Councilman David Lewis in recognition of his serice to the community as the honorary council member for August.
When asked about his experience as an honorary member of the city council, Scruggs said that he learned a lot.
“In every sense of the word, they work for our best and to make Thomasville a better place to visit. If I could do it again, I would,” he said.
At various times each year, council members select a citizen to be the honorary council member. Ctizens serve for a period of one month, during which they participate in council meetings and council-related committee meetings in order to give them a first-hand account of what it takes to keep Thomasville running smoothly.
