The owner of a Thomas County convenience store where a lottery ticket worth $49 million was sold is excited about the possibility the winner could be a local person.
“We’re glad to know it’s closer to home,” said Tommy Patel, owner of Susie Q’s No. 1, 13091 U.S. 319 North.
“That lucky winner has not come forward yet,” Patel said late Wednesday morning.
Patel thinks the winning ticket probably was sold Tuesday night.
The winner had not come forward midafternoon Wednesday, said Tandi Reddick, Georgia Lottery communications director.
Winning numbers from the drawing were: 5-12-26-42-49 and the Mega Ball was 24.
Mega Millions winners in Georgia have 180 days from the draw date to claim their prize.
