THOMASVILLE — A Thomas County Prison inmate who escaped in late September was captured early Wednesday morning in New York.

Jerry Darrin Ross, 38, formerly an Ocilla resident, escaped midafternoon Tuesday, Sept. 25, from a prison work detail at Country Oaks Golf Course on Pavo Road.

Ross, from Irwin County, was serving time for burglary, entering auto and domestic violence convictions.

Since escaping, Ross was employed by an Ocala, Fla., tree service that was working in New York following Hurricane Sandy.
